Hello, this is Akos from Orobaa of Africa.
Spring is here! A new season has arrived, and our skin needs to dance to a new rhythm. This is my favourite season because it reminds me of my life back home in Ghana, where the Harmattan season arrives. The Harmattan is similar to winter, and it's a time when our skin gets dry and crackly, almost like a map of Africa. To combat this, we use shea butter to moisturise our bodies. After the Harmattan season, our skin starts to glow from all the shea butter we've applied. We then use African Black Soap to shed the old skin, helping it to regenerate and rejuvenate.
Your Spring Clean Skincare Routine
Your skin is about to go through a "spring clean" – if you've been using our African Black Soap or any other soap from Orobaa, you'll notice that your skin is just about to start glowing. If you see some dead skin cells, don't worry, it's a natural process. Your skin is preparing for the next season, summer, where everyone wants to glow.
So, how do we do this? At Orobaa, we do it differently. We don't just recommend scrubbing with sugar and spice. While we do have scrubs with coffee, sugar and other ingredients, here's our unique approach:
Exfoliate with a Sapo:
Get your exfoliating Sapo (Ghanaian sponge) and one of our soaps—be it our shea, moringa, turmeric, or oatmeal soap.
Take Your Time:
Bathe with it every evening. Take your time to pamper your skin. You can even sit on a chair and spend up to 30 minutes gently exfoliating your skin in a circular motion. This will get rid of all the dead cells that have accumulated during winter.
Hydrate, Don't Dry:
When you are done, do not dry your skin with a towel. Let the water sit on your skin and get your oil. Massage it from head to toe.
Lock in Moisture:
Next, get your favourite butter. If you like our Shea Butter, go for it. If you want the Intense Body Butter, go for it and layer your skin. That's how you get ready for summer.
The Face Care Experience
For those of us who love going the extra mile by exfoliating our face, you can use the Sapo for that. But if you want a more specialised product, try our Gentle Face Exfoliant.
- It has nourishing oils, and it's amazing how this exfoliant leaves your skin feeling as smooth as glass.
- If you want to avoid a foaming agent (a surfactant) from an African Black Soap-based cleanser, our Charcoal Face Exfoliant is perfect.
- The Charcoal Face Exfoliant will give your skin a beautiful sheen without feeling oily. It will detoxify your skin and open your pores, preparing your skin to drink up and absorb your moisturiser.
That's how you get your skin ready to glow for the new season!
