My Journey with a Runner's Sun-Damaged Skin

My Journey with a Runner's Sun-Damaged Skin

Hello there! It's Akos from Orobaa, and I want to share a truly impactful story with you – one that highlights the incredible resilience of our skin and the power of natural, African-inspired solutions.

I remember this gentleman vividly. I was at the market, and he was passing by my stand with his wife. What caught my eye immediately was the vivid redness and an array of spots on his forehead and the side of his head. His skin was so inflamed, it genuinely made me wonder what could have caused such a reaction.

Curiosity led me to him, and I gently inquired about his skin. He told me he's an avid outdoor person – a cyclist, a runner, constantly exposed to the elements. What surprised me even more was his next revelation: he did use sunscreen. My mind raced. If he was using sunscreen, why was his skin so inflamed? Why had the sun hit him so hard? He even mentioned it was painful, raw, and burning to the touch. When I asked what he was currently using, he mentioned steroids and cortisone. My heart sank a little, thinking, if those strong medications weren't working to calm the sensitization, something else was needed.

What I recommended

My immediate thought was to simplify and soothe. The first thing I recommended to him was our Orobaa Raw Authentic Shea Butter. Not just any shea butter, but our pure, unadulterated, un-processed shea butter – nothing else added, just pure goodness. My instruction was simple: apply it to his skin every time he washed, aiming for three times a day. And, if possible, to "snack" his skin in between meals – just like we feed our internal organs, we need to nourish our outer organs too!

I also advised him to try and stay out of direct sun for a week to allow his skin a chance to heal and for us to assess the sensitivity. He agreed.

And to my surprise, and certainly to his, after just one week of using only the Orobaa Raw Authentic Shea Butter, the skin inflammation and redness had gone down dramatically. He came back to me, and we both couldn't believe the transformation! The sensitivity had reversed, and the pain was gone.

With the inflammation calmed, we moved to the next crucial step: addressing the sunspots and marks. We needed to heal the deeper damage and allow his true skin to emerge. For this, we introduced him to our Orobaa African Black Soap. The idea was to gently cleanse and assist the skin's natural healing process, helping to fade those dark marks and spots caused by sun exposure.

The results

And after just two more weeks of this combined approach – soothing with Shea Butter and cleansing with African Black Soap – the results were astounding! We literally could not believe it. The inflammation was completely gone, the marks had significantly faded, and his skin had popped up into a beautiful, healthy state.

So, if you're experiencing inflammation, redness, or sunspots due to sun exposure, please know that you don't have to suffer. You don't have to rush into harsh treatments, and you certainly don't have to wait. Begin by listening to your skin, nourishing it with nature's wisdom, and allowing its natural healing powers to emerge.
